Resolutions Carried at the 2008 Semi-Annual Meeting


Resolutions Pertaining to Unseeded Acreage Benefit
WHEREAS unseeded acreage benefits discriminate against some grain and oilseed farmers depending on their rotation,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Ontario Grain and Oilseed sector ask Agricorp to review the USAB (Unseeded Acreage Benefit).

Resolutions Pertaining to Safety Nets
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Ontario Grain and Oilseed sector ask for a review of the Premiums in the Risk Management Program for all commodities.

WHEREAS the current RMP cost of production methodology does not accurately reflect the current COP for the majority of grains and oilseed farmers,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Ontario Grain and Oilseed sector firmly lobby the government to change the RMP cost of production methodology to accurately reflect the true COP for the majority of grain and oilseed farmers.

WHEREAS other farm groups in Quebec, Manitoba and Saskatchewan are lobbying the federal government for Agriflex,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Ontario Grain and Oilseed sector continue to lobby the federal government for Agriflex so that the RMP can be fully funded.

Resolutions Pertaining to Rising Costs of Chemicals and Fertilizer

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Ontario Grain and Oilseed sector look into the excessively increasing costs of Chemicals and Fertilizer.

Resolutions Pertaining to MOU

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the MOU be moved forward as quickly as possible to a producer vote.

Resolutions Pertaining to the Species at Risk Act

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Ontario Grain and Oilseed sector ask the Minister of the Environment to amend the Species at Risk Act to include the principle of compensation for loss of income to private landowners.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Ontario Grain and Oilseed sector ask for proper compensation for those impacted by the Source Water Act.
